Religious Freedom essays Throughout the whole of American history, religion and government has been a very controversial topic. While religion seems to find its way into almost every aspect of our lives, there have been various legal battles over religious. First, let us define what religion is. The American Heritage Dictionary defines religion as, Belief in and reverence of a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe ... a personal or institutional system grounded in such belief and worship. (American Heritage Dictionary: 4th Edition). However, in his book, Michael Corbett defined religion as, ... an integrated system of beliefs, lifestyle, ritual activities, and institution by which people give meaning to (or to find meaning in) their lives by orienting themselves to what they take to be holy, sacred, or of ultimate value. (Corbett, 1999: 5). Problem arises when the line between government and religion is crossed. Members of our government in positions of authority decide everything in our lives in the form of laws, which determine our behavior. For example, the removal of the Ten Commandments from the rotunda of the Alabama Supreme Court building in Montgomery on August 27th, 2003 (CNN News, 2003). Former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore installed a Ten Commandment monument in the rotunda of the Alabama Judicial Building in September 2001. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) in a similar case in Lincoln Nebraska and Philadelphia, PA opposed to this action. The ACLU stated that, ...Ten Commandments monument violated the principles of religious freedom. (ACLU Press Release: April 2003). Required Courses for Law School Law school applicants should have a variety of courses on their transcripts, including studies in the areas of business, logic, and social studies, among others. While most colleges do not ask students to complete a set of required courses for law school, there are certain classes and majors that can best prepare students for the rigors of this field of study. Business Students who are hoping to practice law in business-related areas, such as corporate law, real estate law, and tax will greatly benefit from early exposure to business studies. Business courses provide students with a strong command of business issues such as contracts, negotiations, and corporate structure. These courses require that students think critically and come up with solutions to intricate problems. This coursework can also be useful for students who expect to practice law in the areas of government regulation, business litigation, and aspects of representing nonprofits. A business major, in particular, covers many subjects that a student will encounter in law school. Courses within this major include reading, writing, contracts, and speaking, all courses that will provide a solid foundation for students ultimately seeking a law degree.  Many business courses also cover basic analytics skills. History, Government, and Politics   The legal profession requires basic knowledge of the government, as well as its history and processes. Public Speaking Students who are not political science majors need to seek out courses that emphasize public speaking skills. While students can enroll in public speaking classes, they should also practice speaking in public or to a large group of people- theres a lot of that in law school. This includes both giving in-class presentations as well as other public speaking endeavors. Writing for speech is also a skill that needs to be honed, not just speaking. Students should consider classes in debate, public speaking, and speech writing. Additional Courses Disciplines that study human behavior can also be useful, including both psychology and sociology. They involve critical thinking and analysis, two valuable legal skills. Many students will also benefit from exploring courses in criminology, anthropology, and even religion. The bottom line is that students who want to prepare for law school should take courses that emphasize reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. Admissions officers look favorably on transcripts that show a student has both practiced these skills and has done well in courses that require them.   Two of the most important components of the law school application are the GPA and LSAT score. Both should be at or above the school’s averages to be a competitive candidate, and students can often distinguish themselves from a pack of applicants with similar testing scores provided they show a range of high-quality classes.

When Pip visits Miss Havisham for the first time Dickens gives us lots of clues to what she will be like before he actually meets her. Firstly her house is called Satis house which Estella says Its other name was Satis which is Greek or Latin or Hebrew or all 3 or one to me for enough. This is a warning that Miss Havisham is fed up and had enough of life. Also upon arriving at Miss Havishams house Dickens builds up the atmosphere by writing The cold wind seemed to blow colder there than outside the gate and it made a shrill noise in howling in and out at the open sides of the brewery. Like the noise of wind in the rigging of a ship at sea. This creates a gloomy atmosphere and makes the reader think something bad is inside. Once Pip enters Miss Havishams room Dickens writes a paragraph describing Miss Havisham. HE writes about how she is dressed. She was dressed in rich materials satins and lace and silks all of white. Some bright jewels sparkled on her neck and on her hands. This gives us a good impression of her but then Dickens writes but I saw that everything within my view which ought to be white had been white long ago and had lost its lustre, and was faded and yellow. These represents that she was once happy but mow her life has gone sour and she is bitter. The room in which Miss Havisham was had no source of daylight it was lit by the odd candle. This shows us that there is no light left in her life.

The largest leap the show has taken though, has been in the way it has embraced its fandom, creating a symbiotic relationship between Buffy the show and Buffy the fanfiction. Not only does Buffy fanfiction seize upon unexplored areas and inconsistencies inherent in the text, these forays are often paid homage to by the show, and in some cases, even made part of the canon itself. Ideas and fantasies created by the fans can impact upon the show in a way that has never been seen before. For those who are not familiar with what fanfiction is, it essentially refers to fan-authored texts written around characters, scenarios or elements from pre-existing sources, usually television shows or films, although the list can include such varied sources as bands, cartoon, books, poems or games. It used to be the exclusive preserve of zines or mailing lists, but with the advent of the internet, fanfiction has become easy to find and easy to publish. The internet has essentially brought a show like Buffy to a point that it took Star Trek years to build up to. For example, if you were to type in the words 'Buffy' and 'Fanfiction' in the Google search engine, you would come up with about 77,000 hits. With the advent of internet access to fan-authored works, it has become much easier for fanfiction authors and readers to conceal their identities. However, it still functions as a community, complete with mailing lists, fanfiction challenges and internet zines. There is no longer a n eat divide between the producers and consumers from years ago. Now fans can be both. Fanfiction has been regarded in the past by theorists like Henry Jenkins as a scribbling in the margins, a form of textual poaching. This often created an antagonistic relationship between the owners of the text and the fans that consumed them. Rather than simply reading the text and producing meanings in the way that the author had intended, fans not only scribble their ideas in the margin, they rewrite large slabs of the original to articulate their own meanings. These practices either resulted in the outrage of Lucasfilm or the tolerance of other shows. Buffy has reversed this process, turning the fans into authors and allowing them to not only play with any aspect of the show, but also to influence the direction of the narrative itself.

Basically, this concept has its key focus on the two-way understanding of the multifaceted relation between a stimulus and a response to it. It is the endeavor of a good psychologist to understand how a stimulus, which is a specific action, event, or sensation that an organism is subjected to, the response on the individual. On the other hand, for the reaction or response of the subject, it should be possible to understand type, or be tter still, the specific stimulus that is responsible for the response (Buckley, 1989). As a consequence of this, other affiliates and sub-branches of the conditioning and classical conditioning have come up as a result of myriads of empirical experiments. The student, having gone through experiences, read or learnt about the information prior to the current information learnt, is able to add up or relate the piece of information, makes a connection and derives a meaning or conclusion from it. As such, this method is seen as being one that links both the processes of learning involving practical and theory. Through this, it is more possible to the learner than ever before, for the learner to fulfill the main role of education; to make a me aning of life and the thing that surround the human race (Shettleworth, 2010). Application in the aviation industry Logical reasoning and actions that come as a result are of great importance in every working or professional environment. It is important to note that, some more than others, workforce environments require great precision, stability of the mind as well as accuracy of thought in the bid to bring about excellent completion of tasks or assignment. The aviation industry is one of such fields of work, which need great and well-regarded ways of doing things that will come out as evidently efficient and effective.
